Jardim Oceania came out of the same development as Bessa, Oceania I, in the 1950s, and became a separate neighbourhood in 1998. It has 20,651 residents across 2.3 km², between Bessa to the north and Manaíra to the south, at the line of Avenida Governador Flávio Ribeiro Coutinho.
What defines the neighbourhood for anyone travelling with children is Parque Parahyba I: a leafy area with a trail, courts and a picnic space, busy in the late afternoon. The beach is the same stretch as Bessa, with corals close to the sand.
